Reported Chelsea managerial target Diego Simeone is set to vacate his post at Atletico Madrid at the end of the season, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Argentine has been touted as a potential replacement for under pressure boss Jose Mourinho, should the club sack him after a nightmare start to their title defence.

The Blues have lost ten games in all competitions, including seven out of twelve in the Premier League, despite winning it a canter last year.

As a result, the controversial Portuguese has been the subject of intense scrutiny surrounding his job security.

Now, reports suggest that Simeone could be set to leave his post in the Spanish capital, despite only having recently signed a deal to keep him there until 2020.

He has been a resounding success at the Vicente Calderon during his five years there, winning the La Liga title and reaching the Champions League final back in 2014, as well as lifting the Europa League and the Copa Del Rey.

However, the paper indicate that the 45-year old former Argentina star is ready for a new challenge, with bosses behind the scenes at Atletico Madrid apparently aware of his intentions to depart.
