Man City announce second summer signing in £13.8m transfer deal

As confirmed on their official club website, Manchester City have signed Nolito from Celta Vigo in a £13.8million transfer deal.

The winger-forward was in phenomenal form for the Spanish outfit last season, bagging twelve goals and seven assists in 29 La Liga appearances.

The Spain international, who scored for his country in the Group Stages of Euro 2016, also averaged an impressive 2.1 created chances and two successful dribbles per match during his final campaign at Balaidos.

The Citizens have been linked with the 29-year-old frequently in recent months, whilst a return to Barcelona – where Nolito made over 100 appearances for their B string before leaving in 2011 – had also been mooted.

But Manchester City have now announced Nolito as their second summer signing, following former Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, on their official website.

According to BBC Sport, amongst other sources, City activated the Spaniard’s £13.8million release clause and he’s now moved to the Etihad on a four-year contract.

Upon signing the deal, Nolito said; “I’ll try to bring as much as I possibly can. I’ll do everything that the manager asks of me, try my absolute best and do everything I can to try to repeat the form I’ve shown throughout my career at various clubs.

“It’s just about trying to play my normal game and let’s hope that I can help Manchester City to win games.”
