Everton or West Ham could sign El Clasico playmaker in blockbuster transfer

Updated: July 1, 2016

According to reports from The Daily Mail, Everton and West Ham have been offered the chance to sign Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic.

The Croatian international, who made two appearances for his country at Euro 2016, moved to the Bernabeu last summer in a £24million transfer from Inter Milan.

The 22-year-old was billed as one of Rafa Benitez’ long-term signings but struggled to impact during his debut season in the Spanish capital – and especially after the now-Newcastle United boss was sacked in January.

According to The Daily Mail, the playmaking midfielder is already looking to leave Real Madrid to kickstart his career, with the Premier League a preferred destination.

Accordingly, Los Blancos have offered Kovacic’s services to Everton and West Ham, and are looking to recoup around £30million for the former Zagreb youngster.

Serie A champions Juventus are also said to be targeting Kovacic, who made 34 appearances across all competitions last season.
