Barcelona considering shock Southampton raid to replace iconic club legend

Updated: June 11, 2016

Barcelona are weighing up a shock move for Southampton defender Cedric Soares this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Portuguese international only moved to the South Coast last summer, though has impressed since joining from Sporting Lisbon in the right-back berth.

A full-back of attacking enterprise, the Blaugrana reportedly view the 24-year old as a potential replacement for the iconic club legend, Dani Alves.

The Brazilian is set to join Juventus after a glittering spell with the Catalan giants, leaving a gaping hole in the La Liga champions’ side.

Moves for Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta and Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin have also been mooted, with both Spaniards potentially representing ideal fits for the club.

Still, the report claims they have cast their eyes of the ongoing situation of the Portuguese at St. Mary’s, where the club have repeatedly sold their best players over the course of the summer transfer window.
