Attacking target snubs Spurs transfer, set to join La Liga outfit for £5.8m instead

Updated: July 15, 2016

According to reports from Gazzetta World, Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Antonio Sanabria is set to sign for Real Betis.

The highly-rated Paraguay international bagged an impressive eleven goals in 31 La Liga appearances whilst on loan at Sporting Gijon last season, leading to heavy interest from Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs.

Indeed, the Lilywhites have been linked with the 20-year-old forward frequently in recent weeks and Gazzetta World claim they even agreed a transfer fee with his parent club, Roma.

But according to the Italian publication, Sanabria has rejected the chance to sign for the Premier League side because he wants to return to La Liga for next season.

He’s now agreed to join Real Betis instead, who finished tenth in the Spanish top flight last season, at a cost of just £5.8million.

Spurs fans may not feel too concerned about Sanabria’s snub; the north London outfit signed AZ Alkmaar striker Vincent Janssen earlier this week.
