Atletico Madrid are ready to shock Arsenal and Chelsea by sealing the £35m transfer of Michy Batshuayi, according to the Daily Express.

The Gunners were thought to be chasing the Marseille star, with manager Arsene Wenger reportedly ‘bewitched’ by the player’s talents.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is also said to be casting a watchful eye over the 22-year old Belgian international, with Diego Costa and Radamel Falcao both struggling in front of goal.

However, Atleti boss Diego Simeone is now ready to steal a march on the Premier League pair, as well as Valencia, by opening negotiations surrounding a potential deal.

It is understood that the La Liga giants are not deterred by the mammoth fee, and are keen to add him to the likes of Jackson Martinez and Fernando Torres up front.

The former Standard Liege man is valued at ‘around €50m’ by Marseille president Jean-Michel Aulas, apparently putting Chelsea off a bidding war.
